History of the Saint John Exibition Park Raceway

Moosepath Park opened on McAllister Drive, Saint John, New Brunswick in 1889, over 100 years ago. The name of the raceway changed to Exhibition Park Raceway in the late 1940's. EPR has been the home of some of the most unforgettable races in the history of maritime harness racing.

EPR holds the record for the fastest pacing mile, with a time of 1:54.3, set two times. The first record was set by Sandy Hanover, a Montreal gelding, driven by Mike MacDonald in 1996.

The equaled time was set by maritime bred Woodmere Topcat, a horse driven by Todd Trites. This record still remains the fastest ever paced by a harness racer bred in the Maritimes.

EPR also holds the record for the fastest dead heat with a time of 1:54.4. This was set in the 1999 Provincial Cup by Ontario horses Order to Go and Raleigh Fingers.
